Our passion for our work doesn’t end when the project ends either; we are always eager to stay in touch with clients to answer questions about caring for natural stone and to hear feedback.

We are often commissioned to produce new work that fits seamlessly into an existing environment, following the interior design aesthetics and using our abundant experience to match the new stone with old, where possible.

Informed Material Selection

Unlike most building materials, natural stone is not homogenous or standardised: Slabs of stone from the same quarry can have different properties when tested. We will help you decide which types of stone will be the most appropriate; taking colour, texture, grain, structural strength and other important factors into consideration

We regularly procure stone from a wide number of quarries across the UK and Europe where we are able to ensure consistency of supply in terms of colour, block size, and quantity. This is particularly important as a staircase designer, as each tread is carved from a single block of stone.

On occasion our clients have a specific stone already in mind for their project. We will work with you to source the stone and ensure suitability for your project. We also use market-leading sealers which ensure maximum durability and ease of maintenance.

True Partnership

Here at Ian Knapper we are comfortable being involved at every stage of your project; including interior design and architectural decisions. We will help you to select, source and install balustrades, handrails, stone flooring and gallery edging. We make it a priority to check that every angle has been considered so that the end-result is outstanding.

We can project manage the entire process for you, although we are equally happy working in partnership with other engaged/specialist suppliers, when required. We collaborate with architects, planners, designers, construction companies and surveyors to form a cohesive working team.

3D Modelling

We create tailor-made 3D models of the intended work to steer and inform design decisions and processes. This will give you a good appreciation of how your staircase or fireplace will look in your space, before commitment is made.
